  2. Enter the two values on the left and right.
  3. The answer updates immediately with the calculation label so you can verify the inputs.

About Percentage Calculator

Percentages express a ratio out of 100. They are used for discounts, taxes, interest, growth rates, statistics and everyday comparisons. This calculator covers the four common cases so you do not have to rearrange the formula in your head.

Percentage change shows a signed number: positive for an increase, negative for a decrease. Always check the direction when interpreting a change between two values.

Features

  • Four common percentage calculations in one tool
  • Instant result with a readable label describing the operation
  • Plain numbers, no currency or formatting restrictions
  • Results to four decimal places for precision

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between "percent of" and percentage change?

"X% of Y" finds a portion. Percentage change measures the relative difference between two values compared with the starting value.

Why does reversing the change not give exactly the original number?

Because percentages use the starting figure as the base. A 50% increase from 100 is 150, but a 50% decrease from 150 is 75, not 100.

Can I calculate compound interest or sales tax here?

For tax and simple markups/discounts the "percent of" and percentage change modes are enough. For loans and amortization use the EMI or Loan Calculator.
