- Compare the original and new file sizes, then click Download.
About Image Compressor
The Image Compressor re-encodes your picture with a lower quality setting so the file is smaller. Smaller images load faster, use less mobile data and are easier to email or upload to forms with size limits.
JPG and WebP are lossy formats, so lowering quality trades a little detail for a lot of size. PNG is lossless, so for photos the biggest savings usually come from switching to WebP or JPG. Everything runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded to a server.
Features
- Adjustable quality for JPG and WebP output
- Side-by-side original and result previews
- Shows original size, new size and the percentage saved
- Warns you when the result is not smaller than the original
Frequently asked questions
Will compressing reduce my image quality?
For JPG and WebP, lower quality settings remove some detail. Values around 70–85% are usually hard to tell apart from the original for photos. Use the preview to check before downloading.
Why did my PNG not get smaller?
PNG is a lossless format, so re-saving it as PNG rarely saves much and can even make it larger. Choose WebP or JPG as the output format for a bigger reduction.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is compressed by your browser on your own device and is not sent to our server.
