About UUID Generator

A UUID (universally unique identifier) is a 128-bit value used to label records, files and requests without needing a central counter. Version 4 UUIDs are random, so many systems can create them independently.

These UUIDs are created with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. Collisions are theoretically possible but so unlikely that they are ignored in practice. UUIDs are identifiers, not secrets, so do not use them as passwords or access tokens. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Features

  • RFC 4122 version 4 UUIDs
  • Generate up to 100 at a time
  • Uppercase and no-hyphen formats
  • Copy one or copy all

Frequently asked questions

Are the UUIDs really unique?

Version 4 UUIDs contain 122 random bits. The chance of two matching is so small it is considered negligible for normal use.

What is the difference between UUID and GUID?

They are the same thing. GUID is the term Microsoft uses, and the format is identical.

Does the tool store the UUIDs it generates?

No. They are created in your browser and are not sent or saved anywhere.
